Linguistic Publication Principles for Kevrola Custom Books of the Beginning of the 18th Century

Abstract
Russian archives contain a great amount of papers composed in the inner custom posts at the beginning of the 18th century, these handwritten chancellery documents being invaluable for those who research the formation of the national period Russian language. The language of these documents, which as a rule were composed in places remote from main trade centers, comprises both all-Russian and local lexical and grammatical features. In this article we give a brief review of the custom books from 1710s preserved in one of the district centers of Arkhangelsk Governorate, explain the value of these texts for historical linguistics and outline the process of preparing the 1710 and 1712 books for linguistic publication. We also demonstrate the necessity of composing a morphological index of lemmas and word forms present in these texts as a secondary source for the linguistic study of the early 18th century manuscripts. The supplement contains the specimens of the text portions extracted from the manuscripts as well as several entries from the lemmatized index.
