The lexicon in the book “Za makedonckite raboti” (1903) by Krste P. Misirkov

The process of standardization of the contemporary Macedonian language begins with the work of Krste Misirkov. The subject of our interest is the lexical assortment in Misirkov’s language, the Church Slavic lexical elements, penetrated primarily through Russian mediation: vhоd, vrаzhdа, vrеdа, zhеzhdа, dаzhе, in addition to which he also used appropriate lexemes from the vernacular: vоzglеd — pоglеd, chаst — dеl, ishоd — izlez. The lexical layers include innovations, internationalisms, Graecisms from the church‑religious and diplomatic sphere, etc.: filolog, arhiepiskop, avtonomia, then Turkish loanwords as archaisms or as part of the dialect lexicon: asker, millet, esap, mana, kjef, dialect lexicon from his native speech or from the central and western Macedonian dialects: zapita, klava, nunko. The use of synonyms is also analyzed on a multilingual level.
