Abstract
Current article studies anthroponymic variants and synonyms in Russian panegyric poetry of the 18th century through the issues and principles that were developed in scientific literature and author’s lexicography and concerned this range of words. Suggested analysis is based on the “Dictionary of Anthroponyms in Russian Panegyric Poetry of the 18th Century” (St Petersburg, 2022), which was prepared at the Institute for Linguistic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It includes the research of variant and synonymic series at the semantic and functional‑stylistic levels and takes into account semantic complications of the anthroponyms used in a poetic text. The names studied in the article came from different spheres and historical eras and reflect the influence of Western European and Eastern traditions on Russian poetry of this period. Later, on the basis of this process, the original author’s use and the semantic development of poetic anthroponyms are observed.
