Abstract

The article is devoted to the question, which has been raised more than once in the scientific literature, that a possible source of the “Brief Collection of Names”, the Russian-Latin-Greek lexicon, which is part of the primer compiled by Fyodor Polikarpov-Orlov, is the Latin-Russian-German “Nomenclator”, published in Amsterdam in the printing house of Jan Tessing by Ilya Kopievsky (Kopievich). The similarities found between these dictionaries cannot be accidental. It has been suggested that both of these dictionaries have a common, as yet undiscovered source.
