Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of semantic Slavonicisms in Russian literary language of the 18th century. The nature of this semantic phenomenon is revealed, the basic types of semantic Slavonicisms are singled out, some regularities of evolution of this semantic category are considered. The author comes to the conclusion that semantic Slavonicisms is, as a rule, a common-Slavonic lexical and semantic variant, which has come out of active use in the literary language of the New Age, but has survived in church-literary texts and in works of high style of Russian literary language.
