Abstract

The article discusses the characterization of the cultural-historical context of the rhetorical figure “voskhishcheniye”. In connection with this issue, the correspondence of the name and constituent elements that form the content of this figure, to the poetic practice of M.V. Lomonosov was investigated. The study revealed semantic parallels between the substantial components of the figure and the use in Lomonosov’s poetic language of the verbs восхитить (-ся) / восхищать (-ся), which serve as a producing basis for the name of the figure. In addition, the semantics and usage of these verbs date back to the Church Slavonic language. This allows us to make the assumption that the figure “voskhishcheniye” is an organic synthesis of the West European cultural-historical and Church Slavonic linguistic traditions.
