On the terminology of S. Desnitsky’s speeches on the study of the law

The paper concerns the terminology of the original works by Semion Desnitsky, the first Russian professor of law. It is shown that Desnitsky who graduated from the University of Glasgow borrows some arguments and examples from the W. Blackstone’s works. Some terms used by Desnitsky — the words корпус, разночинец, решение судебное, адвокат and ходатай / ходатайствующий — should be interpreted as translations of English legal terms corporation, commoner, precedent and solicitor or barrister.
