Abstract
This article discusses the issues of the stylistic interpretation of colloquialisms as a genetic and stylistic category in the «Dictionary of the Russian Academy» (1789–1794); it also presents a typology of nests containing colloquialisms. On the basis of the comparative analysis of several nests we make an attempt to reconstruct stylistic views of the lexicographers of the 18th century and to explain the differences in stylistic estimation of different words.
