Abstract
Current article is dedicated to the review of digests published by the V.V. Vinogradov Institute of the Russian Language, 1984–2002. They touch upon the issues of etymology, historical lexicology and lexicography. Digest articles are mostly based on dictionary research, specifically the dictionary of the 11–17th сentury Russian language. Its anniversary issues are the subject of research for the majority of the articles. Presented material gives an idea about the meticulous work done to research the history of language. It also shows scientific ideas connected to a variety of questions like the origins of language, its semantics as well as specific word groups and lexical tokens.
