Abstract

The article considers the image as a category of consciousness (including linguistic). The author points out the connection of this metalanguage unit with the concept of imagery, interpreted in linguistics as the property of language units to evoke generalized and abstracted representations in the human mind. Researchers note that imagery is also associated with the internal form and the concept of motivation. The analysis of articles of explanatory, word-building, etymological, historical-etymological, ethnocultural dictionaries of the Russian language made it possible to identify and describe the feathers that make up the image of the “one’s own” zone as part of the linguocultural space.
