Abstract
The paper contains the analysis of proper names’ poetics typical of Alexander Herzen’s memoirs. Based on Camicia rossa essay (a part of My Past and Thoughts), the author shows the specificity of Herzen’s onomastic allusive metaphor, which is an essential lexical, semantic, cognitive and stylistic instrument of the writer’s artistic manner of expression. The study is focused on the role that proper name allusions play in the conceptualization and evolution of the text. An original interpretation of Herzen’s onomastic allusive metaphors is also proposed.
