Азиатизм and азиатский in the ideological discourse of the 19th century
Abstract
The ideological discourse of the 19th century has a unique character, this is due to the discussion of Slavophiles and Westernists. Their ideological and cultural confrontation consists of many oppositions of a predominantly antonymic type, which includes the opposition of Eastern~European, Asian~European, Asianism~Europeanism. In this ideological context, the ideologem of Asianism is not just a multi-valued lexeme, but it accumulates in itself all those features of Slavophilism that were disgusted by the Westernistsand which form the main oppositions of the two worldviews: the distrust of the new, some European influence is perceived, the desire to preserve the old, unchanging, traditional, search for the ideal of Russian life in it, negative attitude towards the activities of Peter I, the main role is given to Orthodoxy in educating the people and integrating with them, subordination of personality to the state, etc.
